HERE WE GO AGAIN - Guess what is coming back this weekend and next week? That lovely stormy pattern. We are also moving into early May. May + a slow moving weather pattern can turn into flood weather for us so stay tuned to the weather into next week.

Watch those storms on Sunday. A severe risk will come with the heavy storm potential. Right now the biggest threat looks to be the heavy rainfall but a few of the storms could turn severe with wind, hail or maybe a tornado.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been issued for the areas in green.

I'm just the messenger!

The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season still starts June 1st, but the NHC will start regular outlooks on May 15th.

Let me just say if we have 30 storms again I will probably take up drinking on air. I cant. 😩

FLASH FLOOD WATCH: Heavy rain could cause localized flooding for the areas in green. http://bit.ly/2v4r5cd

There will be a Slight Risk ( level 2 of 5) of Severe Weather mainly during the daytime for areas across all of SE Louisiana and S Mississippi. Main threats being damaging winds, large hail, and a tornado or two possible.

Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is forecast with locally higher amounts possible. This rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for heavy rainfall tonight through Sunday night.

Happy May! Mainly dry Saturday with clouds, but storms return Sunday.

Timing: The morning through the evening.

Threats: Severe weather threat is at a level 2 of 5. Watching for strong winds, hail and a few tornadoes.

Rain: Locally heavy rain possible too. 1-3 inches expected with isolated higher amounts.  Stay weather aware Sunday.

6:15PM 5/1/21: ⛈ We will be doing a Facebook Live at 7PM CDT with the latest on the severe weather and heavy rainfall potential this Sunday. See you there!

5/1/2021 10PM Update on the severe weather/heavy rainfall potential for Sunday broken down for each hazard:

⛈️SEVERE: No major changes. Storms may begin as early as around or before daybreak for western areas, racing east thru the day w/ several waves of storms expected.

🚧 FLOODING: Locally heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding with several rounds of storms expected today. Rainfall totals of 1-3 inches will be possible, with locally higher amounts. Remember: TURN AROUND DON'T DROWN when encountering flooded roads

📝 PLANNING: Latest guidance/analysis tonight indicates the potential for a line of strong to severe storms to enter west areas around or shortly before daybreak, spreading east with several additional rounds to follow. Expect rain/storms at any point today thru the evening. Have that umbrella handy! ☔️

A FLOOD ADVISORY has been issued for the areas in green. Turn around, don't drown!

There is a Slight Risk of Severe Weather and Excessive Rainfall across south Mississippi and southeast Louisiana today and tonight. Rain and thunderstorms were already occurring early this morning across portions of the area west of Interstate 55, and will continue to spread eastward this morning. There may be another round of showers and storms during the afternoon hours. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats, but a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. In addition, rain amounts of 1 to 3 inches are likely today, with higher amounts possible. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all of our area through 1 AM CDT Monday morning. Have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings today.

Once we get through today's weather, there will be the potential for another round of severe weather and heavy rainfall Tuesday and Tuesday night. Slight Risks of Severe Weather and Excessive Rainfall exist across much of the area on Tuesday, with the main threats near and north of Interstate 10. Once again, damaging winds and large hail will be the main severe weather threats, but tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

SUNDAY: There will be breaks in the rain, but watch for strong storms and heavy rain through Sunday evening.

NOON UPDATE - Looks like we'll see a little bit of a break from storms over the next couple hours, but more storms could develop this afternoon/evening. The tornado threat isn't terribly high, but will elevate some through the afternoon. The threat looks higher for the northshore and South Mississippi. Stay weather aware the rest of your afternoon. Flash Flood Watch continues until tonight.
